A Forgiveness Story

September 11, 2009

The story below is real, however, the names of the people are changes to protect their identity.

Roughly, two years ago, (Dan) went through a very ugly divorce.  The decision came because (Dan) could no longer sustain the marriage and his ex-wife had made it clear that she wanted out. During the process, (Dan’s) ex-wife verbally and publically accused him of cheating, as well as humiliating her and the family.  None of these accusations were true; however, the lies and false accusations caused a dark cloud over (Dan’s) relationship with is daughter (Steph).

(Dan’s) daughter was so flooded with lies and ungodly words about her father, that she became confused and blinded.

Once the divorce was final, (Dan) had lost not only his marriage but also his relationship with his daughter.

Well, after two years of diligent prayer by the FCA family and (Dan’s) intermediate family, we are excited to report that (Dan’s) daughter has come back to her father.

During a wedding that (Dan) and his daughter (Steph) attended separately, (Dan) made a public toast to state his unfailing love towards his daughter.  The response was overwhelming.  Both (Dan) and (Steph) gave and received forgiveness.

Together, with them, we give glory to God to report that (Dan) and (Steph) are talking every day and re-building their relationship.

Leadership Time

March 23, 2009

“Those who seek leadership, seek a noble ambition”
(my words paraphrased from 1 Timothy 3:1)

One of the four pillars of Colorado FCA is leadership training. It is our goal to equip, encourage, and empower our athletes to become leaders and take ownership for their own schools and FCA huddles.

Three weeks ago, we launched our first ever Parker Leadership Locker Room.

We have combined all three schools in the area (Ponderosa, Chaperral and Legend) to establish a relationship between the athletes in the area. We meet every Sunday night to worship, pray and study the Word.

It has been evident throughout the semester that our students are eager and willing to abandon their lives for the Gospel of Christ. As their lives have been transformed, they have become eager to lead and reach out to their peers.

We are excited to watch God transform lives and use them to go and reach the city.

More to come……

Our good friends and FCA partners, Gabe and Ashley Jenkins, welcomed their first daughter into the world at 3:40 am Sunday, March 8th!

Here is their first family photo:

We are so excited for them and can’t wait to meet sweet Avery! 🙂

R&R

March 2, 2009

This past weekend Ali and I spent the weekend on snow-cat, snowmobile and soaking in the hot springs with our FCA family. While weekends of rest and relaxation are always a blessing (in more ways than one), I am always inspired to work harder at serving the Lord when I return home.

My boss (lee james) is so giving that he takes all of us in the CSMI program on an all-expense paid retreat not once but twice a year. The retreat was in Glenwood Springs. I always tell Ali how much fun it will be to one day do something like that for others.

Here’s to hoping that you all had some R&R this weekend are that you are rejuvenated for this coming week. The Lord has a purpose for each of your days and remember that what you see in the natural is not always truth…God is always working for your good.

Be Blessed,

David

FCA in South Denver

February 6, 2009

This is Ali (David’s wife)…

Welcome to the FCA South Denver Blog. I myself am a “blogger” and am amazed at the way it connects people with common passions and keeps them connected. It is our hope to share what the Lord is doing in South Denver and thank those who partner with us.

In the next few days we will post more information about what has been going on and the recent breakthroughs.  Hopefully we will be able to make this blog more functional. We are so blessed that the Lord has called us to Denver.

New Blog is under construction!

Coming January 2009!
